Sea Barn Farm sits on the shores of the Fleet Lagoon in West Dorset.

Overlooking the majestic sweep of the Chesil Bank and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, this 140-acre mixed farm is the spectacularly beautiful home of Sea Barn Racing .

The farm also supports cereal and beef enterprises and, not surprisingly given its superb location, a camping park.

Sea Barn Farm has been owned and run by John Coombe and his wife, Noelle, since the 1960’s. Originally producing milk, wheat and eggs the couple also trained point-to-pointers and chasers in their “spare” time. The perimeter of the farm, including its substantial, lagoon-side coastal boundary, provided a superb, exhilarating and scenic natural gallop. And the cooling, salty waters of the Fleet provided an excellent, natural, wading area for sea-walking post-exercise - ideal for cool-down and therapeutic purposes.

In over 40 years, much has changed at Sea Barn. But the farm, its climate and location, remain perfect for training horses for steeple-chasing and the flat.

Now a dual Public Licensed Trainer for the jumps and the flat, John Coombe, with the help of daughter and son-law partnership Miranda and John Roberts, has added Sea Barn Racing to the suite of enterprises operating from Sea Barn Farm, complete with all-weather gallop, a six-horse walker and 11 boxes.
